Concentrated Solar Power

The term CSP relates to solar thermal power stations. This principle was made known in Germany by the Desertec Concept. Solar heat is concentrated via reflectors so as to generate steam which is used to drive a turbine for power generation. The development of high-temperature heat accumulators allows for solar heat to be stored temporarily, thus enabling the continuous generation of power even through the hours with less or no sun or at night. This is how solar thermal power stations become basic-load capable, thus presenting a realistic alternative to conventional power plants, and therefore a reasonable investment option.
